Message air on the compression stroke. You are measuring how well the rings and valves hold the pressure. If you set your compressor for 100PSI and the cylinder can only maintan 90psi then you have a 10% leak down . A strong motor will have 2% -10% leak down. Anything over 15% is queastionable.
